Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and according to U.S. Breast Cancer Statistics, about 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.  Over the years, the breast cancer survival rate has continued to increase as a result of treatment advances, early detection through screening, and increased awareness.

Early Detection is Key!

Discipline yourself to perform a routine self-exam:

Ages 20-39

Have a clinical breast exam by your health care provider at least every three years, and perform a breast self-exam once a month.

Ages 40 & Over

Have a clinical breast exam by your health provider and a mammogram every year. Perform a breast self-exam once a month.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Mobile Mammography Unit

The Friends Foundation is dedicated to providing opportunities for healing and early detection to women who come to us for care, regardless of their ability to pay. One way we do this is through the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Mobile Mammography Unit (MMU). Through the MMU, approximately 3,000 mammograms are provided each year and 1/3 of the mammograms are provided free to local uninsured and underinsured women.
