ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
The Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation was formed in 1997 and plays a vital role in the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System and in the lives of the underserved adults throughout our area. The Foundation raises funds that support various community services, as well as medical services for the uninsured and the underinsured. This demonstrates the CHRISTUS promise of excellence for every patient, every day. It means that all patients who enter the doors at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa have the opportunity to experience unmatched medical care from award-winning physicians and medical staff, no matter their econonmic bracket. The Friends Foundation helps to fund innovative programs and equipment at hospitals and regional health and wellness outreach programs in the South Texas Medical Center, at Westover Hills and in New Braunfels.
Supporting Life-Changing Programs
Through the efforts of the Friends Foundation, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospitals (CSRH) have been able to enhance programs, provide new equipment and support outreach efforts that uphold the ministry of this faith-based health care organization, including:
The Family Health Center at CSRH - Westover Hills is an all-inclusive clinic providing comprehensive services, including complete maternity care, well-women and gynecological care, geriatrics, chronic illness management, sports medicine, and acute and preventative care for all ages to over 10,000 patients a year.
The largest gift from the Friends Foundation to date benefited the Cardiac Cath lab at CSRH - Westover Hills. The lab is equipped with two state-of-the-art rooms, allowing heart and vessel imaging, special procedures, studies and treatments.
CSRH- Medical Center was able to make renovations to the ACE Unit, a program that provides comprehensive and innovative care for the elderly.
The Friends Foundation is actively raising funds in support of cutting-edge technology for a new and grreatly needed GI Clinic at Medical Center.
The Birthing Center at CSRH - New Braunfels provides comprehensive maternity and newborn health services, including neonatalogy services that are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
EBMM at CSRH - New Braunfels provides mother and baby with an in-home visit by a registered nurse following the days of delivery. The nurse provides educational information on maternal and child health issues and child development, and a medical follow-up. EBMM strives to give parents the tools they need to allow babies to thrive in strong, healthy families.
Thanks to funding from the Friends Foundation, the MMU underwent an extensive upgrade in 2013. The MMU offers convenient and affordable breast cancer screenings for women who have difficulty accessing services due to lalck of transportation, financial resources, cultural or other constraints.
The Friends Foundation generates philanthropic support through charitable gifts and grants from board members, community constituents and associates. Ongoing fundraising an annual philanthropic support is essential for us to meet the needs of those seeking medical care at our CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Facilities.
